It’s not easy for a starter, to get their first “good” MTG (Magic the Gathering) to learn. Therefor, we have 2 ways to solve it. 1, spend a few hundred dollars, or a few thousand dollars, to buy multiple good cards. build your own deck, try playing with others. Change some cards, spend another few hundred dollars. then after a few months, you will find a good deck for you. But we don’t think it’s the best way, as it needs a lot of cash, and too much time. here we offer the 2nd choice. and that’s MTG proxy (proxies).

The whole idea is to save your time and money, by trying and learn with MTG Proxy (proxies) cards first. get your ideal deck list first. Then you can buy these cards instantly. And you can even play with your friends with MTG proxy (proxies) deck directly for casual. Some tournament even allow proxies cards to be used.

Now we are going to show you, how to make magic the gathering proxies cards, buy yourself.

equipment required

1. 300G A4 chrome paper ( coated paper, photographic paper), you can buy on Amazon, eBay or Walmart.
2. A4 color Printer (EPSON, CANON … what ever, you don’t need to buy it, if you can use one in your office, or your friend may have one)

3. ruler and knife ( or if you have other tools can cut the size 63*88mm)

These should be able to make proxy cards, but if you want to make it good quality, you may need these as well:
1. matt lamination film (A4 size)

2. a laminator machine

3. a round right angle cutter

Now all tools ready, we need files.
1. card design artwork ( resolution as high as possible ), backside artwork is the same, you can use original design or alter design. all fine.
2. Photoshop ( or coreldraw ) software. A trial version is enough.

Now we go
Step 1: make a template for your printing. ( or download one, if you can not find, contact me, i will send to you ). Some printers have a few mm deviation. if so, you need to make a fixed template of the backside. then adjust the template of frontside, make sure both sides fit.
Step 2: get all cards you want printed.
Step 3(if you have laminator machine): film every paper with the machine.
Step 4: use ruler and knife, to cut every cards out.
Step 5(if you have the round right angle cutter): cut the angles to round.

Simply done.
