When playing the game (MTG), 2 players sit on a table with a judge beside. The playing field was designed to be several different zones, “Library”, “Hand”, “Battlefield”, “Graveyard”, “Stack”, “Exiled”, “Command”. For some older cards, “Ante” zone is also available. Each zone has different purpose.
Unless effects or rules approve, the order of cards in Library, Graveyard, Stack can not change. Cards in other zones which face down, the order also can not change.
A player’s deck become library after the game start.
Each library have to stay in a pile, face down. Don’t peek or change the order of the cards.
Counting the number of cards in a library is approval anytime, by both players.
Cards not played after drawing, is Hand. Each player starts with 7 cards in Hand. It can not be over 7, so player may need to throw some cards to keep the number.
Player can not see the other player’s Hand, but counting the number is OK.
Battlefield is the place you put your permanents and every event happens. There is nothing when the game just begins, you can player 1 land in every turn. Other cards will join the battlefield after checking out.
All discard cards becomes Graveyard. All Countered, discarded, destroyed or sacrificed cards, will be put on top of graveyard. The owner can change order anytime.
A Card will be put on Stack when the spell is cast. Cards in stack is possible to to use again in certain situations.
Some cards got exiled by spells and abilities. And there is no way back to the battle. Usually cards in Exile face up. Both players share this zone.
